The Longqing Gorge is an ideal destination for a day trip outside of Beijing. It is about 10 kilometers in Yangqing County. Surrounded by mountains and water, you can explore the Bell Mountain, Phoenix-Coronet Island, Dongdazhai and Moon Bay. People call here Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, but mountains are much steeper than the Yangtze River. Someone call here “little Guilin”, but the water here is much clearer. You will enjoy fun activities here: bungee jumping, summer tobogganing, zip line and more.
Longqing Gorge Ice Festival
Time: mid-January to the end of February.
Opening Hours: 9am to 10pm every day.
Best time to be at the festival: 5pm to 10pm.
During the Longqing Gorge Ice Festival, you can find sculpture of animals, human figures, and lanterns. There are more than 400 ice and snow sculptures on the spot. At the innermost end of the exhibition area, there is a 70-meter-high ice waterfall. You will also find flowers, birds, insects, and fish lanterns, when the surrounded trees and mountains illuminated, the whole area looks amazing.
