Tianmen Mountain derives its name from the Tianmen Cave, a natural karst formation located beneath the mountain. Spanning an area of 494 acres, the mountain boasts a relatively gentle terrain adorned with ancient trees, twisting vines, moss-covered rocks, and stalagmites. Its rare and breathtaking mountaintop scenery has earned it the reputation of being the most exquisite “sky garden” worldwide and a veritable paradise. Recognizing its natural beauty and significance, Tianmen Mountain was designated as a national forest park in 1992.

Visitors to Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park can marvel at its stunning landscapes and experience thrilling attractions such as plank roads and glass skywalks clinging to the cliffsides. The mountain’s summit, towering at a height of 4,982 feet (1,518 meters), is situated approximately 5 miles from downtown Zhangjiajie.
