From January 1st, 2014, the Forbidden City will be closed on every Monday (except the public holidays and July 1 – Aug.31) for the examination and maintenance of the ancient palace architecture and the cultural relics.

Pass through the south gate to the magnificent Forbidden City, a 250-acre complex of courtyards, palaces, pavilions and gardens, which served as the imperial palace for emperors and their households for more than 500 years
The Forbidden City was the imperial palace from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is located in the middle of Beijing,, and now houses the Palace Museum. For almost 500 years, it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government.
The palace complex exemplifies traditional Chinese palatial architecture,and has influenced cultural and architectural developments in East Asia and elsewhere.
The Forbidden City was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987,and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world
The Walking tour will covers the most important buildings within the Forbidden city,to learning and knowing the emperors and concubines life in this masive palace
Next, take a short bus ride to a hutong to witness the lifestyle of local people who live in these areas and gain a deep understanding of hutong culture. Enjoy a homemade noodle lunch at a courtyard home in the neighborhood, and then spend about two or three hours exploring the narrow hutong streets and alleyways, where you can try authentic fare with 20-plus food tastings at local restaurants.
Your tour ends with return to your hotel by taxi or subway (own expense).

This One Day Walking tour have two different quotation,half day (4-5 hours) or Full day (6-8 hours) Our tour guide will meet you in your downtown hotel’s lobby,then you will either take taxi or subway to the sites,you pay your own transportation.The Tour is altogether 6-8 hours,if you want to extend the tour(more than 8.5 hours),it is 100rmb or 15 USD per hour.

End time: Back to your hotel or drop you off at the sites in city
If you choose our tour guide only,you will pay your own taxi or subway or bus fee.
