Huanghuacheng Great Wall has long stood out among the Great Wall for its uniqueness and rare beauty. Moreover, Huanghuacheng has long been the most frequent subject of photography lovers.

Despite the hundreds of buses that visit daily, the Great Wall at Mutianyu is not as crowded as the nearby Badaling or Juyongguan sections of the Wall. Mutianyu’s 2.5 kilometer stretch of the Wall allows you to walk for more than an hour as you explore 23 watchtowers and the valley on both sides of the Wall.

Depart your hotel at 8:30am
On the way to The Mutianyu Great Wall if traffic allows, stop to photograph the iconic “Bird’s Nest”– the Beijing National Stadium–host to many spectacular events of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Once arrive at the The Mutianyu Great Wall,you’ll enjoy a less hurried experience and take time to marvel at this wondrous structure and the surrounding hillsides that look north toward Mongolia.The Mutianyu Great Wall is known for its beautiful surroundings – dense woods and rich pastures changing colors with the seasons of the year. Built mainly from granite, the pass at Mutianyu is an appropriately unique section of the Great Wall. 7 to 8 meters high, and 4 to 5 meters high with crenellations on both sides of the Wall, the section of the Wall at Mutianyu stretches for over 2 kilometers.
The Mutianyu Great Wall was built and restored in the early Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), on the remnants of a Wall originally built in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577). Reconstruction took place under the supervision of Xu Da, one of the founding generals of the Ming Dynasty, who was responsible for building a Wall from Shanhaiguan in the east to as far as Mutianyu. The Ming pass at Mutianyu was officially proclaimed in 1404, where is would serve as an important symbol of protection from marauding nomads to the north.
Reconstruction began in 1568 on 1000km of the Wall including Mutianyu. Responsibility was given to Qi Jiguang, a general who had built his credentials fighting Japanese pirates, and who took his responsibilities as a builder very seriously. Construction continued for many years, as the fortifications were built up with solid granite blocks, and included the construction of some of the larger defensive towers.

Stop at a Local Restaurant for lunch

It will take around 30minutes to reach The HuangHuacheng Great Wall. The Huanghuacheng (Yellow Flower City) section of the Great Wall is located in Huairou District, about 60 kilometers (37.3 miles) from Beijing. It is almost 11 kilometers long and joins with Mutianyu Great Wall in the east, and JuyongguanPass and Badaling in the west.

Huanghuacheng Great Wall provides a challenge as it has no stone steps or no single smooth path like the ones found at Badaling and other sections of the Great Wall. Huanghuacheng is named for the sea of yellow wildflowers that bloom in the late spring and early summer, giving sudden exhilarating life to this aged portion of the Wall – Huanghua in Chinese means yellow flower. It is very special – part of the Wall is underwater! Seen from the dam of the reservoir, the stately sunken wall is still visible under the water’s smooth surface. You will also see some of the ancient structures as you hike along.
The entire section of wall comprises of six forts, six passes, twelve beacon-towers, and thirty-two guard towers.

Return to hotel around 5:30pm

Remark: Huanghuacheng Great Wall is an informal section of the Wall without the administration by the local government. You have to take responsibility for your own hiking.

Combine two sections of the Wall tour only allowed you to spend 2-3 hours at each section.We try to make the whole tour between 8-9 hours.Hope to get your understanding
