Yinshan Pagoda Forest

The Yinshan Pagoda Forest Scenic Area is situated in Changping District about 5 kilometers (3 miles) east of Ming Tombs. Since Sui Dynasty (581-618), the current location has been a holy land for Buddhism, many temples had been built in the valley. The pagoda forest was actually the cemetery of the monks of the temple. Various pagodas were built since Jin (1115-1234) dynasty, over the centuries, many temples and pagodas were destroyed.

Today only seven pagodas still stand, five built during the Kin Dynasty and two during the Yuan Dynasty.
