How to get to Summer Palace Beijing

The Summer Palace has five main entrances: East Palace Gate, North Palace Gate, New Palace Gate, South Ruyi Gate and West Gate.

Public Transportation：

East Palace Gate (Main Entrance, Core Scenic Spots)
Metro: Take Metro Line 4/16 to Xiyuan Station, Exit C2, walk about 10 minutes to the Summer Palace.
Bus: Take Bus 331, 332, 346, 584, Night Bus 8 to Summer Palace Station, and you will arrive at the entrance.
North Palace Gate (Back Hill / Suzhou Street Entrance)
Metro: Take Metro Line 4 to North Palace Gate Station, Exit D, walk 5–10 minutes to the Summer Palace.
Bus: Take Bus 303, 331, 332, 346, 384, 394, 563, 584, 601, Night Bus 8 to Summer Palace North Palace Gate Station.
New Palace Gate (Kunming Lake / Seventeen-Arch Bridge Entrance)
Bus: Take Bus 74, 374, 437 to Summer Palace New Palace Gate Station.
West Gate (West Causeway Entrance)
Metro: Take Xijiao Line to Summer Palace West Gate Station, direct arrival.
Bus: Take Bus 469, 539 to Summer Palace West Gate Station.

How to buy tickets to the Summer Palace Beijing?

1. Highly recommended to use a ticket agency to help with the booking, which saves time and avoids troubles. 2: The Summer Palace implements real-name reservation and ticket purchase, mainly through online channels.

Do I need to book a ticket to Summer Palace in advance?

All visitors (including those eligible for free tickets) must make reservations 1–7 days in advance. It is recommended to book 3–7 days in advance for weekends, holidays and peak seasons (April–October) to avoid tickets selling out.

Can I buy a ticket on the spot upon arrival?

On-site ticket purchase is not recommended: The Summer Palace mainly adopts online reservation, and tickets are not guaranteed at the on-site ticket windows. There are almost no on-site tickets available during peak seasons / holidays. Please make an online reservation in advance.

Is there any place in Summer Palace to deposit  luggage?

There is no official luggage storage inside the Summer Palace. Suggestion: Store your luggage at your hotel or in lockers at subway stations.
