Day 1: Shanghai City Tour | East-Meets-West Urban Charms
Morning: Shanghai Museum & Yu Garden
Meet at the hotel lobby to start the Shanghai adventure, exploring the city where ancient culture blends with modern glamour.
- Shanghai Museum: Visit this iconic building shaped like an ancient bronze ding, with a round top and square base symbolizing “round sky, square earth”. It houses 120,000 relics spanning 5,000 years of Chinese history, including the 3,000-year-old Da Ke Ding bronze vessel and Bianzhong musical instruments. Wander through bronze and ceramic halls to admire exquisite ancient artifacts.
- Yu Garden: Explore this tranquil classical garden hidden in downtown Shanghai’s buzz. Stroll through pavilions and rockeries, feast on delicate sculptures and carvings. Then head to Yuyuan Bazaar outside to grab local snacks and browse traditional handicrafts.
Afternoon: Nanjing Road, The Bund & Shanghai Tower
- Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street: Take a casual stroll along the street lined with big brands, cozy cafes and towering buildings, ideal for window-shopping.
- The Bund: Visit this “Exhibition of International Buildings” featuring 52 structures in diverse global styles. Gaze across the river at Pudong’s glittering skyscrapers.
- Shanghai Tower: Take an elevator to the 118th floor (546 meters high) for a jaw-dropping panoramic view of modern Shanghai.
Day 2: Shanghai → Huangshan | High-Speed Train & Mountain Adventure
Morning: Train Station Transfer & High-Speed Train Ride
Meet at the hotel lobby and transfer to the train station for a high-speed train to Huangshan. Huangshan is a UNESCO Natural and Cultural Heritage Site, famous for four wonders: guest-greeting pines, weird rock formations, sea of clouds and hot springs. It also boasts towering peaks and glacial landforms, with the ancient saying: “If you have toured Huangshan Mountain, no need to visit any other mountains.”
Afternoon: Huangshan Mountain Cable Car & Peak Exploration
Upon arrival, take the Yungu Cable Car up to Yungu Temple, passing Beginning-to-Believe Peak and Lion Peak along the way. Hike to the iconic Flying Stone and Bright Summit. Stroll the Bright Summit for a bird’s-eye view of the entire mountain, then head to Cloud-dispelling Pavilion to watch the best sunset scenery in Huangshan. Transfer to a mountain-top hotel for the night, preparing for the sunrise the next day.
Day 3: Huangshan → Hongcun Village | Sunrise & Ancient Villages (Breakfast & Lunch Included)
Morning: Huangshan Sunrise & Mountain Exploration
Rise early to head to Refreshing Terrace and catch the spectacular Huangshan sunrise. Explore more wonders including Lion Peak, Dawn Pavilion and the funny Stone Monkey Watching the Sea, admiring twisted, beautiful pines along the way. Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out afterward.
Afternoon: Hongcun Ancient Village Exploration
Drive to Hongcun Village and have lunch first. Then explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has over 140 well-preserved Ming and Qing-style residences with pink walls and black tiles. It was a filming location for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and is renowned for its preserved non-urban settlements reflecting Ming and Qing architecture. Visit Chengzhi Hall, dubbed the “Folk Imperial Palace” with gilded carvings on columns and door frames, and Nan Lake Academy. Wander the village’s water scenery: Moon Pond, South Lake and winding streams, which make the whole village look like a painting. After the tour, guests can choose to end the trip in Huangshan or return to Beijing.
Day 4: Xi’an Arrival | Customized City Tour
Morning: Xi’an Arrival & Terracotta Warriors Tour
Be greeted by a local guide at the Xi’an arrival hall. On the way to the city, customize a 2-day Xi’an itinerary by picking 4-6 attractions and setting your own pace (6-8 hours of exploration per day). Head straight to the Terracotta Warriors Museum, the “Eighth Wonder of the World” discovered by farmers drilling a well in 1974. It is Xi’an’s most iconic attraction with three main exhibition pits. Explore the site while learning the stories behind the life-sized clay soldiers.
Afternoon: Xi’an City Wall & Muslim Quarter Stroll
After lunch, visit the 600-year-old Xi’an City Wall, walk on top and admire the city views below. Then head to the Muslim Quarter, the heart of Xi’an’s Muslim community. Wander the bustling food and souvenir markets, trying local snacks like lamb skewers and persimmon cakes. Transfer to the Xi’an hotel afterward (hotel booking at guests’ own cost).
Day 5: Xi’an Customized Tour | Pagodas, Museums & Ancient Sights
Morning: Hotel Pick-Up & Custom Itinerary Exploration
Meet at the hotel lobby to follow the prearranged itinerary and explore Xi’an’s top spots, picking 2-3 attractions based on flight schedules. Must-see options include:

Day 6: Beijing City Tour | Imperial Landmarks & Royal Gardens
Morning: Tian’anmen Square & Forbidden City
Meet at the hotel lobby after breakfast to explore Beijing’s imperial sites. First visit Tian’anmen Square, the world’s largest public square and a symbol of China, perfect for photos of Tiananmen Gate. Cross the square to the Forbidden City, the world’s largest palace complex once home to 24 emperors. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 500 years of history and over 8,728 rooms, serving as China’s political center for centuries. Enter via Meridian Gate, follow the central axis to see grand palaces, admire ancient art treasures and hear imperial stories. Walk 15 minutes to Jingshan Park for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Forbidden City’s russet roofs and modern Beijing.
Afternoon: Summer Palace Leisure Walk
Visit the Summer Palace, known as the “Museum of Royal Gardens” and once used as an imperial summer retreat. Its gardens, lakes and pavilions resemble a traditional Chinese painting come to life—take time to wander and relax. Optionally, treat yourself to legendary Peking Roasted Duck at Quanjude for dinner (cost at own expense).
Day 7: Beijing Great Wall Tour | Mutianyu & Olympic Landmarks
Morning: Mutianyu Great Wall Adventure
Drive 1.5–2 hours northwest to Mutianyu Great Wall, a well-preserved section with fewer crowds and 23 Ming-era watchtowers. It is part of the 2,000-year-old Great Wall stretching over 3,000 miles across northern China, one of the world’s most impressive ancient masterpieces. Take a cable car to the 14th watchtower, then hike the western route and climb to the 20th watchtower for a fun challenge. Snap photos of the wall winding through green pines and fulfill your Great Wall dream.
Afternoon: Olympic Landmarks Photo Stop
After the hike, head back downtown to take photos of the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube—iconic venues of the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2022 Winter Games. Transfer back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 8: Beijing | Temple of Heaven & Hutong Exploration
Morning: Temple of Heaven Visit
For the final Beijing adventure, visit the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO Taoist site larger than the Forbidden City. It was where 22 emperors offered sacrifices for good harvests, renowned for its symbolic layout, unique structure and features like the Echo Wall and Triple Sound Stones. Join locals for morning tai chi or square dancing to soak up the authentic Beijing vibe.
Afternoon: Optional Hutong Rickshaw Tour
If extra time is available, take a rickshaw tour through Beijing’s old hutongs. Glide through narrow alleys lined with traditional courtyard houses, browse charming local shops and get a glimpse of ordinary Beijing life to wrap up the China adventure.
