Along the way, keep an eye out for scenic highlights: windmill farms, saltwater lakes, and the Tianshan Valley, offering beautiful views to start your day.

    Afternoon: Turpan’s Historic & Cultural Sites

    Upon arriving in Turpan, your first stop is the Bezklik Thousand Buddha Caves—an abandoned site home to 15th-century fresco ruins and statue remnants, a quiet window into ancient art.
    Next, explore the Ancient City of Gaochang—once a famous kingdom along the Silk Road. Wander through its ruins to see what’s left of temples, stupas, and city walls, and imagine its past glory as a key stop on the ancient trade route.
