    Kick off your adventure with two days soaking up Chengdu’s laid-back charm: get up close with adorable giant pandas, wander through the city’s historic lanes, and savor authentic Sichuan cuisine before heading to Xining. From there, board the train for a spectacular rail journey to Tibet, where you’ll be captivated by the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau’s breathtaking landscapes—majestic snow-capped mountains, endless rolling grasslands, and crystal-clear serene lakes unfold before your eyes.
    Once in Tibet, you’ll follow the classic route from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp. Immerse yourself in the grandeur of the UNESCO-listed Potala Palace, explore sacred and magnificent Tibetan temples, stand in awe of Mount Everest—the world’s highest peak—and marvel at the turquoise beauty of Yamdrok Lake, along with many other stunning sights.     Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu

    Welcome to Chengdu! Upon your arrival at the airport, our local guide will greet you and accompany you to your downtown hotel. After checking in, feel free to rest and recharge or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.
    Optional Activities: Make the most of your free time with independent exploration. Top recommendations in Chengdu include strolling along bustling Chunxi Road or browsing the trendy boutiques and cafes of Tai Koo Li.

    Day 2: Chengdu City Tour & Overnight Train to Xining (B, D)

    Kick off the morning with a visit to the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, located 10 km (6 miles) north of the city. As morning is peak feeding time for pandas, you’ll get up close to both adult pandas and adorable cubs as they munch on fresh bamboo. Spanning 230 hectares, the center also features an informative panda museum—plan to spend around 2.5 hours exploring this beloved attraction.
    In the afternoon, we’ll return downtown to wander through Kuanzhai Alley, a historic district where you can shop for unique souvenirs and soak up traditional Sichuan charm. Next, we’ll head to Renmin Park, a lively urban oasis popular with locals. Unwind with a cup of fragrant tea and experience Chengdu’s famous laid-back lifestyle firsthand.
    In the evening, you’ll board an overnight train to Xining. Our guide will accompany you to the train station, and comfortable sleeping accommodations ensure a restful journey.

    Day 3: Xining City Tour & Tibet Train to Lhasa (B)

    Upon arriving in Xining, our local guide will meet you at the railway station and take you to a local restaurant to savor authentic Qinghai breakfast.
    We’ll then visit Ta’er Monastery (also known as Kumbum Monastery), situated 25 km northeast of Xining. This sacred site is the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, a revered Tibetan Buddhist master. Next, we’ll explore Dongguan Mosque—the largest mosque in Qinghai. Originally built in 1380, it boasts a unique blend of Tibetan, Han, Arabic, and European architectural styles.
    After the Xining tour, you’ll be transferred to Xining Railway Station for your overnight train to Lhasa. Please arrive at least 1 hour before departure, as you’ll need to present your passport and Tibet Travel Permit to board.

    Tibet Permit Notice

    1. We will handle the application for your Tibet Travel Permit once you book the tour with us.
    2. To ensure a smooth process, please submit all required documents at least 20 days prior to your departure.
    3. Your travel permit will be delivered to you before the train departs—please keep it in a safe place for the duration of your trip.

    Tibet Train Travel Tips

    1. Your package includes a soft sleeper ticket for the Xining-Lhasa route.
    2. The train is equipped with a dining car serving simple Chinese dishes. We recommend bringing snacks or instant noodles for additional options.
    3. All trains to Tibet feature oxygen supply systems, so there’s no need to worry about altitude sickness during the journey.

    Day 4: Qinghai-Tibet Railway Scenery & Arrival in Lhasa

    Today, you’ll witness the breathtaking natural beauty of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway—one of the world’s most spectacular rail journeys. As the train travels toward Nagchu, you’ll pass the iconic Tanggula Pass, seamlessly blending into the vast highland landscape. Keep an eye out for local villagers waving at the passing train and yaks darting across the tracks, while snow-capped mountain ranges with glistening glaciers unfold on the horizon at every turn.
    Upon arriving in Lhasa, our local guide will greet you at the railway station and transfer you to your downtown hotel. Along the way, admire the scenic vistas of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lhasa River, and traditional Tibetan villages.
    After checking into your hotel, take ample time to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. It’s important to take things slow in the first few days and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
    In the late afternoon or evening, your guide will welcome you with traditional Tibetan gifts, provide essential travel guidance, and introduce you to your fellow group members.

    Day 5: Lhasa Tour – Drepung & Sera Monasteries (B, D)

    Start the day with a visit to Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in Tibet, housing over 10,000 monks at its peak. Explore the grand Coqen Hall, where your guide will delve into Tibetan Buddhist cosmology and share stories of prominent figures in Tibetan Buddhist history.
    You’ll also tour Loseling College (or an equivalent) within the monastery, gaining insight into monks’ daily practices, studies, and living conditions through a visit to their dormitories.
    In the afternoon, we’ll head to Sera Monastery, founded in 1419 and long recognized as a leading Buddhist seminary. The highlight here is witnessing the famous monk debates—lively, animated discussions that are a core part of monks’ academic and spiritual development. Your guide will explain how these debates help deepen their understanding of Buddhist teachings and advance their scholarly degrees.
    End the day with a welcome dinner, where you’ll bond with your group members over delicious cuisine. Overnight in Lhasa.

    Day 6: Lhasa Tour – Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street (B)

    After breakfast, your guide will accompany you to the majestic Potala Palace. Climb to its heights for panoramic views of Lhasa, while your guide shares tales of the successive Dalai Lamas and introduces the palace’s opulent halls, sacred relics, and priceless treasures.
    Following the Potala Palace visit, we’ll stop at Longwangtan Park at its foot—a serene spot offering a unique perspective of the palace and opportunities to engage in traditional Tibetan cultural activities.
    In the afternoon, we’ll visit Jokhang Temple—the spiritual heart of Tibet. Inside, you’ll find the revered 12-year-old statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, so lifelike it’s said to resemble the Buddha himself. Surrounding the temple is Barkhor Street, where you can join locals in a clockwise kora (pilgrimage circuit) and witness Tibetan Buddhist devotions firsthand.
    Later, your guide will take you to Lhasa’s liveliest indoor Tibetan teahouse. Sip on authentic Tibetan sweet tea with locals, and your guide will share insights into Tibetan social life and daily leisure customs. Overnight in Lhasa.

    Day 7: Lhasa → Gyantse → Shigatse (B, L)

    Leave Lhasa behind for an overland journey to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Along the way, immerse yourself in Tibet’s stunning landscapes and catch glimpses of local villagers’ peaceful way of life.
    Our first stop is Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes. From the Gambala Mountain Pass (4,790m), the lake stretches like a turquoise ribbon beneath the towering Mt. Noijin Kangsang (7,191m) in the distance. Descend to the lakeshore to explore scenic viewpoints, then visit a warm local family in a nearby village for a home-cooked lunch.
    Next, we’ll pass the Karola Glacier (5,100m), a striking ice formation right beside the road—its serene beauty evokes a maiden gazing at the distant snow-capped peaks.
    Continuing toward Gyantse, we’ll make a stop at Simila Mountain Pass. Here, you can hang prayer flags to offer wishes for world peace and the well-being of your loved ones.
    Upon arriving in Gyantse, capture photos of the ancient city’s charming architecture. As we travel from Gyantse to Shigatse, admire vast fields of lush green barley (in summer) or golden crops (in autumn), dotted with traditional farms.
    Upon reaching Shigatse, check into your hotel and relax before tomorrow’s adventure to Mount Everest. Overnight in Shigatse.

    Day 8: Shigatse → Everest Base Camp (B)

    After breakfast, set off for Mount Everest. Our first viewpoint is Gyatsola Pass (5,280m), where you’ll catch your first glimpse of Everest—veiled among the mountain range like a budding lotus flower.
    Entering Mount Everest National Nature Reserve, we’ll stop at Gawula Pass (5,198m) for a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Here, you’ll witness five of the world’s highest peaks (all over 8,000 meters) standing majestically in a row—your second glimpse of Everest.
    Continue along the winding new road to Everest Base Camp (5,200m), where each turn brings you closer to the iconic peak—your third view of Everest.
    Upon arrival, the massive white pyramid-shaped summit stands before you in all its glory. As dusk falls, the setting sun bathes Everest’s northern face in warm golden light—your fourth view.
    At night, weather permitting, gaze up at the glittering Milky Way alongside Everest’s snow-white peak for a fifth and unforgettable encounter with the world’s highest mountain.
    Overnight at Everest Base Camp (in tent hotels) or a nearby village if EBC tent accommodations are closed during winter.
    Warm Tips:
    1. Everest Base Camp is located at 5,200 meters above sea level. It’s common to experience headaches or difficulty sleeping due to altitude—this is normal, so there’s no need to panic. Take it slow, relax, and enjoy the scenery; symptoms will gradually subside.
    2. Everest’s visibility depends on weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
    3. Tent hotels at EBC typically close from November to March. If traveling during this period, accommodation will be arranged in a nearby village.

    Day 9: Everest Base Camp → Dinggye → Sakya → Shigatse (D)

    After marveling at Everest’s grandeur, return to Shigatse via a scenic Himalayan route, reimmersing yourself in the range’s breathtaking beauty.
    Before departing EBC, visit Rongbuk Monastery (5,154 meters)—the world’s highest monastery. This Nyingma sect monastery sits in close proximity to Everest and is unique for housing both monks and nuns.
    Continue back to Shigatse via Dinggye, taking an alternative route through the Himalayas. Stop at Dinggye Xilin Viewpoint to admire the eastern slope of Everest and catch a glimpse of Lhotse (8,516 meters), the world’s fourth-highest peak, along with the expansive wetland landscape at the foot of the mountains.
    Take a short break in Sakya Ancient Town, where you can leisurely stroll through its historic streets and soak up its timeless atmosphere.
    Upon returning to Shigatse, your guide will take you to a local Langma Hall for a traditional Tibetan song and dance performance, followed by a group dinner with your fellow travelers. Overnight in Shigatse.
    Note: During heavy summer rains or winter snowstorms, the return route from Everest to Shigatse may be adjusted to pass through Gawula Pass and Tingri instead of Dinggye and Sakya. If changes are necessary, we will provide a written notice during your trip.

    Day 10: Shigatse → Nyemo → Lhasa (B)

    In the morning, explore Tashilhunpo Monastery—the residence of the Panchen Lamas and the largest monastery in Shigatse. Perched on a hillside, this sprawling complex is home to the world’s largest statue of Maitreya Buddha and serves as the spiritual center of Shigatse. Watch as monks in yellow hats and red robes walk through the temple grounds, and if you’re lucky, you may witness a traditional Dharma ceremony.
    After the monastery tour, we’ll journey back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River—revered as the “Mother River” of Tibet. Overnight in Lhasa.

    Day 11: Departure from Lhasa to Chengdu – Tour Conclusion (B)

    After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to Lhasa Airport. Board your flight to Chengdu, bringing this unforgettable Tibet adventure to a close.
