Your private tour guide will meet you bright and early at your Beijing hotel lobby, ready to kick off your day of iconic sights.
First, we’ll head toward the Mutianyu Great Wall—and if time allows, we’ll make a quick pit stop at the Bird’s Nest (Beijing National Stadium)! Snap photos of this futuristic architectural marvel, the venue that hosted the spectacular 2008 Summer Olympics and countless world-class events since.
Mid-Morning: Mutianyu Great Wall Exploration
Next up, it’s time for the star of the morning—the Mutianyu Great Wall! This section was built and restored in the early Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) on the remnants of a Northern Qi Dynasty (550–577) wall, reconstructed under the supervision of Xu Da, one of the Ming Dynasty’s founding generals who oversaw wall construction from Shanhaiguan all the way to Mutianyu.
Unlike crowded city sections, Mutianyu offers a peaceful, scenic escape—gaze out at the rolling hillsides stretching north toward Mongolia as you hike between uniquely designed watchtowers. Choose your adventure: take a comfy cable car round-trip, ride the ski lift up, or zoom down the mountain on a thrilling toboggan slide (lift and toboggan costs at your own discretion). Your guide will stick with you every step, sharing fun facts and helping you capture perfect photos of the wall snaking through the mountains.
Noon: Hearty Countryside Lunch in Huairou
Worked up an appetite? We’ll head to a local restaurant in the Huairou district, famous for its fresh chestnuts, wild mushrooms, and tender trout. Tuck into a spread of countryside-style dishes—think earthy stir-fries, steaming soups, and crispy local snacks—to refuel for the afternoon’s city adventures.
Afternoon: Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour
Drive back to downtown Beijing to explore two of the city’s most iconic landmarks:
- Tiananmen Square: Wander the world’s largest public square, home to the Monument to the People’s Heroes and the National Museum of China. Take in the grand, solemn atmosphere and snap photos of the iconic Tiananmen Gate in the distance.
- Forbidden City (The Palace Museum): Pass through the southern gate to step into this magnificent 250-acre imperial complex—once the home of Ming and Qing Dynasty emperors, and the ceremonial and political heart of China for nearly 500 years. Stroll through golden-roofed halls, lush courtyards, and ancient corridors with your guide, who’ll answer all your questions about royal life, hidden secrets, and the palace’s fascinating history.
Evening: Hotel Drop-Off
After a day packed with history and adventure, your guide will drop you back at your Beijing hotel—perfect for resting up before tomorrow’s trip to Xi’an!

Morning: Beijing West Railway Station Transfer & Bullet Train Ride
Your driver will pick you up from your Beijing hotel and transfer you to Beijing West Railway Station for your 5-hour bullet train ride to Xi’an. Sit back, relax, and watch the Chinese countryside roll by as you head to the ancient capital of 13 dynasties.
Midday: Xi’an Arrival & Local Lunch
Upon arriving in Xi’an, your local guide will be waiting for you at the arrival hall with a personalized name sign—no stress, no getting lost! Before diving into the main attraction, we’ll stop for a delicious Xi’an-style lunch, featuring local favorites like biangbiang noodles, roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and spicy cumin lamb skewers.
Afternoon: Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Tour
Now, get ready to be blown away by the Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses—hailed as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”! Your guide will fill you in on all the history and stories on the drive over, so you’ll be fully immersed before you even step through the museum gates.
This incredible site was accidentally discovered by four local farmers drilling a well in 1974, and has since become Xi’an’s most famous attraction. Explore the three main pits, where thousands of lifelike terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots stand in precise battle formations—each with unique facial features and armor—to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor. Your guide will point out hidden details and share fascinating tales about the army’s creation, excavation, and the mysteries that still surround the site.
Evening: Xi’an Hotel Drop-Off
After marveling at the terracotta army, your guide will transfer you back to your pre-booked hotel in Xi’an, wrapping up your unforgettable 2-day heritage journey.
