Yuanyang is famous for its rice terraces, hailed as the world’s largest and most spectacular. Carved by hand by the Hani people over a thousand years ago, these terraces are still in use today. Centuries before ecological preservation and land stewardship became global concepts, local rice farmers were already practicing these principles. Now recognized as a “sculpture of the land,” the terraces have been officially inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site.

2. Bada Terrace

Upon arrival, select the sites that interest you most before starting your exploration. Your journey typically begins in Qingkou Village—a key area in the terraces’ UNESCO World Heritage designation. Here, a complete ecosystem thrives, integrating four elements: forests, water systems, mountain villages, and terraces. Follow your guide to wander through the village’s traditional Mushroom Houses, and learn about the Hani people’s unique customs, distinct cultural traditions, and special ways of life and farming.

Later, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Yuanyang.
