Day 2: Tianmen Mountain & Glass Bridge Adventure – Flexible Departure

Meet your guide at your hotel lobby and head to Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park. Start with the star attraction: the world’s longest alpine cable car ride to the mountain’s summit.
- History in a sentence: Tianmen Mountain has been a sacred Taoist site for over 2,000 years, with its name meaning “Heaven’s Gate” referring to the natural cave arch that was once believed to be a portal to the heavens.
As you soar above the mountains, gaze down at the Heaven-linking Avenue—the legendary 99-Bending Road built in 1998. With 99 consecutive hairpin turns winding up the cliff, it’s renowned as one of the most thrilling and hazardous roads in the world. Once at the summit, wander through the mountain’s lush forests of ancient trees, and feel like you’ve stepped into a “sky garden” hidden above the clouds.
Local Lunch & Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge Challenge
Enjoy a hearty local lunch, then gear up for the highlight of the day: the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge.
- History in a sentence: Completed in 2016, this engineering marvel holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge, suspended 300 meters above a deep canyon.
Step onto the 375-meter-long, 6-meter-wide glass bridge and test your courage as you walk above the dizzying drop. Capture breathtaking photos of the canyon below, then take an elevator down to visit the Tianmen Cave. This massive natural arch, 131.5 meters high and 57 meters wide, looks like a grand gate leading to the sky—truly living up to its name.
