Day 1: Imperial Beijing Highlights – Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City & More (L)
Your driver and tour guide will meet you in your hotel lobby to kick off your Beijing adventure. Start with the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Ming and Qing emperors held annual prayer ceremonies for bountiful harvests. Snap postcard-perfect photos of its iconic circular architecture. Watch locals practice Tai Chi, dance, and play traditional games amid the fragrant pine woods.
Next, head to Lama Temple, one of the world’s largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries that also houses a towering 26-meter Maitreya Buddha statue carved from a single piece of sandalwood. Wander its incense-filled halls, watch monks perform daily rituals, and soak in the serene, spiritual atmosphere.
Enjoy a flavorful local lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then, skip the long lines with the travel agency’s fast-track pass to enter Tian’anmen Square, one of the world’s largest public squares. Walk through the south gate to the Forbidden City, a 600-year-old imperial palace that served as the home of 24 Ming and Qing emperors. Day 2: Beijing → Gubei Water Town & Simatai Great Wall Night Tour (L)
Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning. Travel to Gubei Water Town, a charming resort nestled along meandering canals that evokes the tranquil beauty of Southern Yangtze River water towns with its traditional northern Chinese architecture. Wander its cobblestone streets, snap photos of ancient stone bridges, elegant pavilions, and scenic lake views. Don’t miss photography hotspots like Sima Brewery, the Dyeing House, Yinghua Academy, Yang Wudi Ancestral Hall, and Zhenyuan Bodyguard Bureau. Climb to the hilltop church for a sweeping bird’s-eye view of the town below.
After dinner, follow your guide to the Simatai Great Wall for a magical night tour. Ride a cable car up to the wall, which perches dramatically along the mountain ridge, and marvel at its illuminated watchtowers glowing against the dark sky—currently, only the section between Watchtowers No.5 and No.6 is open for evening visits. Spend about an hour exploring the wall, then descend via cable car. If you visit between May and October, you’ll be treated to a stunning sunset over the Great Wall before the lights come on. Day 3: Jinshanling Great Wall Photography Adventure (L)
Today is a photographer’s dream at Jinshanling Great Wall, one of the best-preserved and most picturesque sections of the Great Wall with steep mountain backdrops and ornate watchtowers that make every shot a masterpiece.
Start your day early with a 30-minute hike to Small Jinshan Tower. Capture the sunrise as it bathes the wall in soft, golden light—if you’re lucky, you’ll even witness a mesmerizing sea of clouds swirling around the mountain peaks. As the sun climbs higher, hike west along the wall’s undulating ramparts toward the eastern edge. Pause to photograph the historic watchtowers, rolling green mountains, and lush forests that frame the wall. Be sure to stop at General Tower for breathtaking panoramic views that are ideal for landscape photography.
After a full day of capturing stunning images, descend the wall at Zhuanduokou Tower, wrapping up your unforgettable Great Wall adventure.
Day 4: Beijing Hutong Photography & Summer Palace Exploration (L)
