    At 9:30 AM Beijing time, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your centrally located Kashgar hotel. From there, you’ll take a private vehicle for the roughly 200km drive to Shipton’s Arch—this journey takes about 2 hours.

    Stop: Shipton’s Arch

    • Duration: 3 hours (admission included)

      Shipton’s Arch, known in Chinese as “Tianmen” (meaning “Heavenly Gate”), is a natural conglomerate arch near Artush Village in Xinjiang. Though local people had long known about it, the arch was first discovered by English mountaineer Eric Shipton in 1947. It wasn’t until May 2000 that an expedition sponsored by National Geographic Magazine rediscovered it for the international community, catapulting it to fame.

    Regarded as likely the tallest natural arch in the world, Shipton’s Arch has an estimated height of 370 meters. Upon arrival, your guide will lead you on a hike through the valley to reach the best viewing spot for the arch. A picnic lunch will be provided in the valley for you to enjoy.

    After exploring, you’ll be driven back to your Kashgar hotel—this marks the end of the trip, and you’ll return to your original starting point.
