    Finally, visit Shangri-La’s Songzanlin Monastery and Dukezong Ancient Town.

    When you reach Tiger Leaping Gorge, stand on the observation deck. You’ll see the canyon’s two sides lined with lofty peaks, which soar into the clouds and have extremely steep, precipitous faces. Meanwhile, the river surges through the tight canyon, stirring up large waves as it flows.
    Haba Snow Mountain

    Dukezong Ancient Town

    Dukezong Ancient Town sits amid imposing mountains, with its architecture reflecting traditional Tibetan style: stone houses topped with sloping roofs. As you stroll along its cobblestone lanes, gentle breezes carry the movement of prayer flags, and a sense of spirituality fills the air around you.
    Songzanlin Monastery

    Also called the “Little Potala Palace”, Songzanlin Monastery was chosen by the Dalai Lama via divination in 1679. It then grew into Yunnan’s top public site with unique local characteristics.
    The Gedong Festival is held here annually by Tibetans. Pious worshippers come to pray, knocking their knees and foreheads to the ground with each step.
    Inside the monastery, there are abundant treasures: golden Buddha images, golden lamps, Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, silver censers, and more. Collected over different dynasties, these are precious works made by both Tibetan and Han people.
