    Your guide will meet you at your Harbin hotel, and then your journey will get underway. Below are detailed introductions to the city’s key spots:
    • St. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral: Built in 1907, it was originally a Russian church and once the largest of its kind in the Far East. Today, it no longer functions as a church but serves as Harbin’s Architectural Art Exhibition Hall. In winter, the area around it turns into a park adorned with ice lanterns. It’s also one of the best-preserved examples of Byzantine architecture in China.
    • Zhongyang Pedestrian Street: Known as Asia’s longest and largest pedestrian street, it was founded in 1898 and initially named “China Street.” In 1925, it was renamed “Zhongyang Street” (Central Street).
    • Sun Island: In summer, it’s a scenic park—China’s largest riverfront open park—and a popular spot for locals to do sports. In winter, it hosts the Sun Island Snow Festival, running from December 13 to March 5, where you’ll find numerous snow sculptures and snowman creations.
    • Harbin Flood Control Victory Monument: Erected on October 1, 1958, it commemorates the people of Harbin’s victory over the “1957 Great Flood.”
    • Harbin Winter Swimming Show: Held in a swimming pool built on the frozen Songhua River, with outdoor temperatures often around -28°C.
    • Harbin Longta Tower: Also known as Heilongjiang Radio and Television Tower, it’s Asia’s first steel tower. Standing 336 meters tall, it started construction in 1998 and opened to the public in 2000.
    • Harbin Ice and Snow World: Founded in 1999, it’s often called the “Ice Palace Disneyland”—inside, you’ll find food, drinks, and a variety of entertainment options. The best time to visit is at night when the ice structures are lit up. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., usually operating from around December 23 to the end of February (the closing date depends on weather conditions).
    • Laodaowai: Home to China’s largest preserved cluster of “Chinese Baroque” buildings. These century-old houses have Western-style exteriors but hide traditional Chinese courtyards inside—a unique architectural style that defines Harbin’s heritage.
    • Harbin Ice Festival & Ice Lantern Show: “Harbin Ice Festival” is a general term for the city’s winter activities, and when people usually refer to the “Ice Festival,” they mean Harbin Ice and Snow World. The Ice Lantern Show is held in Zhaolin Park, the only location in central Harbin with dedicated ice attractions.
