Transfer: Chongqing → Chengdu (Bullet Train)
Your driver will pick you up from your Chongqing meeting point. Transfer to the railway station for a 1.5-hour bullet train ride to Chengdu. Upon arrival, a local guide holding your name sign will greet you at the arrival hall exit.
Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo)
Board your private air-conditioned vehicle and head to the Leshan Giant Buddha—a 2.5-hour drive through scenic countryside landscapes. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the world’s largest carved stone Buddha, with construction spanning over 90 years from 713 to 803 in the Tang Dynasty, a feat that took the wisdom and effort of thousands of workers. Follow your guide to explore the area and admire the Buddha from multiple stunning vantage points.
Lingyun Temple
Start your exploration with Lingyun Temple, situated right behind the Giant Buddha’s head. Marvel at the Buddha’s elaborate coiled hair, made up of around 1,020 twisted buns. Step inside the temple to admire its intricate sculptures and wall designs, then soak in panoramic views of three rivers converging beautifully below. Follow your guide on a 30-minute downhill walk along the Buddha’s left side. When you reach the bottom, gasp at the 71-meter (233-foot) tall statue—the largest carved Buddha on Earth—and snap unforgettable photos of this sacred spot.
Wuyou Temple
Next, head to the Buddha’s right side to explore Wuyou Temple, home to countless terra-cotta sculptures and calligraphic paintings. Stroll the temple grounds with your guide and learn more about Chinese Buddhism. If the temple line is too long, opt for a scenic river cruise instead to enjoy a panoramic view of the Giant Buddha.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, then set off for the Chengdu Panda Breeding Base.
Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi)
Arrive at the Giant Panda Breeding Base and spend a leisurely morning with these adorable endangered creatures. Watch pandas of all ages—cute newborn cubs, playful juveniles, and relaxed adults—as they munch bamboo or lounge in their naturalistic enclosures. Tour Conclusion & Transfer
After the tour, you will be escorted to the railway station for your bullet train ride back to Chongqing. A local driver will drop you off at your preferred location in Chongqing. Alternatively, you can choose to end your tour in Chengdu.
