No same-day tickets available at the scenic area.

How to get to Yungang Grottoes？

Yungang Grottoes has one main entrance: the Visitor Center (Main Entrance). Only this entrance is open for entry. The Visitor Center (Main Entrance) is recommended.

By Bus:

Take Bus No.3 or Express Tour Line 603 directly to the Yungang Grottoes stop.

Please show your Yungang Grottoes valid ID/Passport to enter the scenic area.

By Taxi:

Please tell the driver to take you to the Main Entrance (Visitor Center) of Yungang Grottoes.The ride from downtown Datong takes about 30 minutes.

2.Tickets can be purchased up to 7 days in advance (same‑day tickets are unavailable); online reservation is mandatory. On-site ticket purchase is not available as all ticketing windows are closed.

Yes, you must book Yungang Grottoes tickets online in advance. Tickets are released 7 days before the travel date and same‑day booking is not allowed. Book as early as possible, especially during peak seasons and holidays.

Can I buy a ticket on the spot upon arrival?

No, on-site ticket purchase is unavailable. The scenic spot has cancelled all on-site ticketing services. All visitors must book online at least 1 day in advance to guarantee entry.

Is there any place in Yungang Grottoes to deposit luggage?

Yes, luggage storage service is available at the Visitor Center of Yungang Grottoes.

Location: On the north side of the 1st floor of the Visitor Center.

Requirements: Present your valid Yungang Grottoes ticket and ID/Passport.

Note: Please take out food and drinks before storing.
