Shanghai – Chengdu Panda Breeding Base- City Highlights(L)

1 Shanghai Renmin Park

Your driver will pick you up in your Shanghai Hotel’s lobby and you will be transferred to airport for a 3-hour flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival, your local guide will hold your name sign waiting for you at the exit of the arrival hall.

2 Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi)

Hop on your private air-conditioned vehicle to Giant Panda Breeding Base. Upon arrival, spend some leisure time to see the Giant pandas including newborn babies, teenagers and adult pandas. Learn about the different stages of panda’s life from infancy to adulthood. Visit the research laboratory, the museum, the panda playground, the animal hospital, and the facility’s beautiful lake. You can take photos these enchanting and endangered creatures as they relax in their natural environment.

3 Kuanzhai Alley

Enjoy lunch in the local restaurant, then discuss with your tour guide on where you want to go in the city. Typically, you will continue your visit to Kuanzhai Alley which is a popular entertainment and nightlife block, with traditional Chinese style buildings, follow your tour guide, explore the area and get to know Chengdu’s folk culture, local life. Then, check out the Well Allay which shows the new life of Chengdu people, as well as the most open, most diverse, and most dynamic zone in the area.

4 Wenshu Yuan Monastery

Afterwards, move on to Wenshu Yuan Monastery. Wenshu yuan Monastery is the best-preserved Buddhist temple in the city with hundreds of bronzes, wooden and stone statues, and Buddhist relics. Since the Tang (618-907) dynasties, over 500 pieces of painting and calligraphy by celebrities have been stored here. Stroll around the courtyard with your tour guide, get to know about the Buddhism in China, see how locals pray here with incense. Admire different culture relics and explore its exquisite garden and solemn halls.

5 Wuhou Memorial Temple

If still have time you can think about to visit Wuhou Memorial Temple which was built in the 6th century in memory of the Emperor Liu Bei and the Prime Minister Zhuge Liang of the Shu Kingdom. Follow your tour guide to explore important buildings including: the Temple of Liu Bei, the Temple of Zhuge Liang and Sanyi Temple, and the Tomb of Liubei. Get to know the histories and stories behind.

6 Chengdu Renmin Park

Or may be stroll around Chengdu Renmin Park, here is the best place to experience the local life, join the locals dancing, singing, sit down and enjoy the local tea to enjoy the Chengdu’s relax life.

7 Songxianqiao Curio Art City

If you have been to these places before, and want to do something different, just feel free to discuss with your tour guide. Other sites in city you may interested to go: Jinli Pedestrian Street, once was one of the busiest commercial streets during the Shu Kingdom (221-263). Today, you can find boutique shops, modern bars and restaurants, and all types of local snacks. *Chengdu Museum *QingYang Palace *Sichuan Museum *Songxianqiao Curio City You can also choose to visit a local fresh market, or park, or massage, or enjoy a night show of Sichuan Opera After the tour finished, you will be transferred to your hotel in Chengdu.

Day 2

Chengdu-Leshan Giant Buddha-Chongqing

1 Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo)

Meet up at the lobby of your Chengdu Downtown hotel in the morning, greeting by your knowledgeable and friendly personal guide then transferred by an air-conditioned vehicle to Leshan Giant Buddha(approx.2.5 hours), relax on the way and enjoy beautiful countryside view. As the UNESCO Sites, construction of the Leshan Buddha, begun in the year 713 in the Tang Dynasty, and finished in the year 803, the statue took people more than 90 years to carve. During these years, thousands of workers had expended their efforts and wisdom on the project. As the biggest carved stone Buddha in the world, the Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song and story. Follow your tour guide to explore the whole area, you will view Buddha from different view.

2 Lingyun Temple

Your first stop is the Lingyun Temple which located behind the Grand Buddha’s head. Marvel at the elaborate construction of the Buddha’s coiled hair, which is made up of around 1,020 twisted buns. Walk inside and marvel at the intricate sculptures and wall designs of the temple. Then absorb panoramic views of three rivers converging prettily below. Then, follow your guide walk down approximately 30 minutes toward the left side of the Grand Buddha. When you reach the bottom, gasp at the 233-foot (71-meter) height of the largest carved Buddha in the entire world and capture fantastic photographs of the sacred site.

3 Wuyou Temple

Next, explore the right side of the Buddha to discover the Wuyou Temple which contains an abundance of terra-cotta sculptures and calligraphic paintings. Stroll around the temple with your tour guide, learn more information about the Buddhism. If the line to Wuyou Temple too long, you will take a river cruise for the panoramic view of Giant Buddha instead. Enjoy lunch in the local restaurant, after the tour finished, you can choose to end your tour in Chengdu, or return Chongqing. Your driver will drop you off in your hotel in Chongqing.
